“Summer Delights at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center”

As every summer, this year too, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) remains the coolest meeting point in the city.

Strolls by the Canal, walks in the Stavros Niarchos Park, views of the sea from the Lighthouse Terrace, games at the Water Jets, concerts and movies at the Lighthouse, with or without a full moon, DJ sets at sunset, all conspire to make the warm summer nights roll carefree.

Summer at SNFCC

The beloved concert series Parklife presents internationally renowned artists covering a wide range of music and providing the opportunity for unique musical escapes at the Lighthouse of Stavros Niarchos Park. This summer’s guests include Devendra Banhart (25/07), Buena Vista All Stars (29/06), and the National Symphony Orchestra and ERT Choir in a concert dedicated to the songs of Queen (08/09).

Of course, summer means outdoor cinema, and the successful outdoor film screening series Park Your Cinema and Park Your Cinema Kids return to the Lighthouse for a ninth year. The program for adult films is curated in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Film Festival, while films for children are curated in collaboration with the Athens International Children and Youth Film Festival.

Additionally, from July 17 to early September, an impressive lineup of Greek DJs will meet on the Lighthouse Terrace every Wednesday at sunset for the now-established Sunset DJ sets.

In September, the SNFCC Green Weekend returns to SNFCC for the third year (21 and 22/09). It is a two-day event dedicated to the environment, with this year’s central theme being the “Green City.”

In early October, the three-day In Orbit festival (4, 5, and 6/10) takes over the programming, offering Athens audiences the opportunity to discover hip hop, electro, and rock bands from Greece for the fifth time.

Finally, the two outdoor exhibitions in the Esplanade and the Perimeter of SNFCC continue: the tribute to the work of Alex Mylona titled “Fulfillment | What doesn’t become a monument, becomes an object or a dependency” and the photography exhibition “Portraits of Women” by Pepi Loulakaki, which began in April during the WOW Athens festival.

The entire summer program is free thanks to the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
