Maria Callas Museum September Events: Tribute to the Iconic Diva, European Heritage Days, Educational Programs, and Free Guided Tours

Celebrate the legacy of the iconic Maria Callas at the Maria Callas Museum with a series of special events and activities throughout September. From commemorating the anniversary of her death to participating in European Heritage Days, the museum offers a diverse range of experiences for visitors of all ages.

The museum pays tribute to Maria Callas on the anniversary of her passing with reduced general admission on September 15. Visitors can explore the exhibition spaces and join a free musical event at 6 pm on Mitropoleos Square featuring the TRIO ARUNDOS From the Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra performing classical works.The trio will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven and Ibert.

As part of the European Heritage Days on September 29, entry to the museum is free from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Maria Callas. Additionally, the museum collaborates with the Industrial Gas Museum for the โ€œLights Turned on Lightโ€ event, exploring the evolution of lighting in the theater through expert speeches and hands-on workshops for adults.

The museum also launches its school and family educational programs, beginning with the interactive workshop โ€œDo We Dance Traviata?โ€ for children aged 2.5 to 5 years. Families can engage in creative movement activities inspired by the opera Traviata, exploring the art of dance and expression.

For a hands-on experience, visitors can participate in the โ€œLa Mia Mariaโ€ activity on Saturdays and Sundays, creating their own souvenir carte postale with Maria Callasโ€™ portrait using the stencil technique. This engaging activity allows both children and adults to connect with the legendary opera diva through art and imagination.

Moreover, the museum offers free guided tours in English on September 18 and 25, providing an in-depth exploration of Maria Callasโ€™ life and career. Visitors can discover unique objects and artifacts related to the sopranoโ€™s legacy, enhancing their understanding of the world of opera and the impact of Maria Callas.
