The concept of SEL dates to the early twentieth century when the scholar John Dewey researched a more holistic approach to education that focuses on social and emotional skills not only academics. SEL proved that it enhances students’ academic achievement and not only improves their behaviour. It works as an eclectic approach to education that sharpens students’ skills, learning techniques, and attitude. It gives students the opportunity to reflect on real-life situations giving them real-life experiences that they need more than the information in the books.
