What Is All of Greece, One Culture?
All of Greece, One Culture is an initiative of the Greek Ministry of Culture, returning in 2026 for its seventh consecutive year. Since its launch in 2020, it has become one of Greece’s most important summer cultural programmes, connecting contemporary artistic creation with the country’s archaeological and historical landscape.
The 2026 programme is its richest yet. It features music, theatre, dance, visual arts/performance, music theatre and events for young audiences, with more than 900 artists involved. Instead of concentrating culture only in Athens, the programme brings audiences across Greece, from ancient theatres and Roman odeons to Byzantine monuments, museums, castles, mosques, mansions and monasteries.
The 2026 Theme: Returning to Humanity
This year’s theme is inspired by a line from Menander’s play O Dyskolos: “How beautiful, mature, a person is when they are truly humane.” It invites artists and audiences to reflect on what it means to remain human in a time shaped by technology, social tension, spectacle and constant change.
That makes the programme especially interesting for international audiences. Even when performances are in Greek, the settings, music, movement, visual language and atmosphere often make the experience meaningful beyond words. For example, watching a contemporary dance performance inside a castle or listening to chamber music in a Roman odeon is not simply about the show itself. It is also about seeing how Greece allows its past and present to speak to each other.
New Venues for 2026
The 2026 edition adds 19 new venues to the programme’s cultural map. These include the First Ancient Theatre of Larissa, Ancient Edessa, the Archaeological Museum of Aigion, the Archaeological Museum of Vathy in Ithaca, the Archaeological Museum of Nicopolis, the Archaeological Museum of Samothrace, Lerna, Mycenae, Stageira, Phaistos, the Sacred Monastery of Arkadi in Rethymno, Kalamata Castle, Kimolos Castle, Skiathos Castle, the New and Old Archaeological Museums of Chania, Casa Romana in Kos and Petralona Cave in Chalkidiki.

Why It Matters
For anyone living in Greece, All of Greece, One Culture is a reminder that cultural life is not limited to Athens or to the country’s best-known summer festivals. The programme reaches smaller towns, islands, mountain regions and archaeological landscapes that many foreign residents and visitors may not yet know.
It is also an invitation to travel differently. Instead of visiting a monument only during the day, you can return in the evening and see it brought to life through music, theatre, movement or performance. In that moment, Greece becomes less like a museum and more like a living conversation between memory, place and people.
Booking and Practical Information
The Ministry of Culture provides free admission to all events, but booking is required. Reservations for July events open on 24 June 2026, while reservations for August events open on 24 July 2026. Where an event takes place inside an archaeological site or museum that normally charges admission, visitors may still need to pay the standard site entrance fee.
Bookings and full programme details are available through the official website: All of Greece, One Culture events calendar.
