Greek wine is often discussed through its best-known bottles, yet its character becomes clearer when tasted where the grapes are grown and the wines are made. Greece’s autumn wine festivals offer precisely that opportunity, bringing individual varieties, regional styles and local producers into focus.
The 2026 programme begins in early September with three festivals in established wine-producing areas. At the Ampelonas Wine Festival, separate masterclasses are devoted to Muscat of Tyrnavos and Limniona, two varieties characteristic of the Tyrnavos area. In Nemea, Agiorgitiko is presented as a fresh red, a rosé, with barrel ageing and in combinations with Greek and international varieties. The programme also includes tastings of white wines produced in the region. Naoussa follows with the Naoussa Street Food Festival, Wine Edition under the theme “Xinomavro meets street food”, accompanied by live cooking and music.
October broadens the view. The Peloponnese Wine Festival brings white, red, dry and sweet wines from member wineries of the Peloponnese Vineyard Wine Producers Association to Thessaloniki, arranged by type and grape composition. Athens then hosts the Wine & Art Festival, combining wine with artists, live performances, music, dance and selected food experiences.

3–6 SEPTEMBER
Ampelonas Wine Festival: Muscat of Tyrnavos and Limniona
The Ampelonas Wine Festival presents wines from the Municipality of Tyrnavos through tastings organised with the local Association of Winemakers and Distillers. Cultural and athletic associations from Ampelonas also take part in the four-day programme at Agios Georgios Park.
Its most focused wine events are two masterclasses devoted to varieties characteristic of the area. Muscat of Tyrnavos is the subject on Saturday, while Limniona takes centre stage on Sunday.
Two Regional Masterclasses
The Muscat of Tyrnavos masterclass takes place on Saturday 5 September from 20:00 to 22:00. The Limniona masterclass follows on Sunday 6 September at the same time. Both are held at the Ampelonas Centre for Art and Culture inside Agios Georgios Park.
Participation is free, but advance booking is required. Registration is open until Tuesday 1 September, with places allocated in order of application.
The wider programme includes concerts and activities for children. The announced performers are Nino and Christina Salti, Kostas Mitsis and Areti Ketime, Giorgos Papadopoulos and Nasia Syrrakou, and Voukoliki Diatarachi.

Great Days of Nemea: Agiorgitiko Across the Wine Zone
The Great Days of Nemea spread across Nemea and wineries of the surrounding wine zone. Around 30 wineries are taking part, with winery visits, tastings and opportunities to meet producers.
Agiorgitiko receives the closest examination. Sunday’s dedicated masterclass lists fresh Agiorgitiko, wines influenced by barrel ageing, rosé and versions combined with Greek or international varieties. Other sessions introduce visitors to white wines produced in Nemea and examine how the choice of glass affects aroma and flavour.
Friday: Opening in Nemea
The festival opens at the courtyard of Nemea Town Hall at 19:00 on Friday 4 September. A concert by Giota Nega follows at 21:00.
Saturday: Winery Visits and Comparative Tastings
At 11:00, a bus departs from Nemea Town Hall for winery visits and a tasting of wines from Asprokampos. The programme is for adults, with a limit of 45 participants.
From 11:30 to 17:00, a free tasting at Agios Georgios Park introduces visitors to Nemean wines. At noon, the professional Riedel Masterclass at Palyvou Estate uses different glass shapes to examine their effect on the aroma and flavour of Sauvignon Blanc, Assyrtiko, Chardonnay, Nemea wine, a Cabernet Sauvignon blend and a Pinot Noir from outside Nemea. Attendance is reserved for wine producers and professionals in wine and food service.
At 18:00, Nemea on the Move brings tastings from all participating wineries to Agios Georgios Square, with live cooking based on two local recipes and a DJ set. At 20:00, Among Gods and Vines presents six wines with stories about the region, tasting challenges, flavours from local producers and music by Myra Duo in Ancient Nemea.
Sunday: Agiorgitiko and Nemea’s White Wines
The Asprokampos winery programme runs again from 11:00 to 15:00. A free general tasting of Nemean wines takes place from 11:30 to 17:00 at the offices of the Nemea Winemakers Association.
At noon, the Land of Agiorgitiko masterclass at Bairaktaris Winery compares fresh Agiorgitiko, barrel-aged examples, rosé and wines combining the grape with Greek and international varieties. At the same time, the Nemea with a Difference tasting at Anagennisi Estate presents Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Kydonitsa, Roditis and Sauvignon Blanc.
The family event Little Explorers of Nemea also begins at 10:00 from the car park of the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Nemea. It follows a trail of clues, puzzles and challenges through the area for children and their parents.

Naoussa Street Food Festival: Xinomavro Meets Street Food
The Naoussa Street Food Festival, Wine Edition is presented under the theme “Xinomavro meets street food”. The announced programme combines Xinomavro, street food and live cooking in Naoussa Municipal Park.
The festival opens from 17:00 to midnight on Friday and continues from noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Further details about participating wineries, individual wines, food vendors and dishes are due to be announced.
Three Evenings of Live Music
The music programme begins at 21:00 each evening. Otra Rota perform on Friday, DJ Bobito appears on Saturday and the rock band 1550 closes the festival on Sunday.

Peloponnese Wine Festival: The Peninsula’s Wines in Thessaloniki
The Thessaloniki edition of the Peloponnese Wine Festival is devoted to wines presented by member wineries of the Peloponnese Vineyard Wine Producers Association.
The organisers say the tasting will include white and red, dry and sweet wines, arranged by wine type and grape composition. This structure gives visitors a way to taste across the participating producers and compare different categories within one event.
The wineries, individual labels, grape varieties, opening hours and ticket arrangements are due to be announced later.

Wine & Art Festival: Wine, Art and Performance in Athens
The sixth Wine & Art Festival places wine tasting within a programme of art and live cultural events. The organisers have announced wineries, artists, live performances, music, dance and selected food experiences as the principal elements of the event.
The programme also gives visitors opportunities to meet producers and speak with the people behind the labels. The participating wineries, artists and full timetable are due to be published in later announcements.
Professional and Public Sessions
Both days begin with a professional session from 11:00 to 13:00, with free admission by invitation. The festival opens to the public from 13:00 to 20:00.
