A major exhibition bringing together contemporary artists from South Korea and Greece opens in Athens on 9 September. The Korea–Greece 65th Anniversary Modern Art Invitational Exhibition marks 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Presented at the City of Athens Arts Centre in Eleftherias Park, the exhibition includes 194 works by Korean contemporary artists, alongside works by Greek artists. It offers Athens audiences an introduction to contemporary Korean art while bringing artists from the two countries together through cultural exchange.
The exhibition opens on Wednesday 9 September at 19:00 and has a short run in the centre of Athens.
Contemporary Art Across Two Countries
The exhibition focuses on friendship and cultural exchange between South Korea and Greece. The Korean works represent different forms of contemporary artistic practice, while the participation of Greek artists brings the two creative communities together.

The exhibition receives support from the Korea Minhwa Promotion Association and the Arisu Artists Association. Minhwa is a Korean folk-painting tradition known for vivid colours, symbolic subjects and images drawn from nature and everyday life.
Artist Interviews and Seminars
The programme will also feature interviews with some of the participating artists and a series of seminars. These activities will give visitors another way to discover Korean culture and engage with the artists.
The Korean Association of International Cultural Exchange and the City of Athens organise the exhibition through the City of Athens Culture, Sports and Youth Organisation (OPANDA).
